Donna sought ways to raise funds for the girls in the program. In 2010, Donna brought together about 35 of her golfing partners and friends for a luncheon at Monterey Peninsula Country Club to raise money for the girls in the program, and so “Z-Gals” was born.
Today, the annual Donna Zoller's Z Gals Ladies Invitational and Leadership Luncheon is a 9-hole scramble tournament held every year at Tehama Golf Club. It brings together women from all over the community for golf and lunch to support the girls of First Tee Monterey County. All funds raised go towards providing opportunities for a brighter future for young girls of the chapter.
After Donna’s passing in 2012, the chapter founded an annual $10,000 college scholarship in Donna’s name which is awarded to a girl participant to attend the four-year college of her choice.
Since the intimate luncheon in 2010 Z Gals has raised over $2,500,000 to “grow confident young ladies through golf”, and nearly 60,000 girls between the ages of 7 and 17 years have been impacted by First Tee Monterey County.
